| Each year, more than 40 million animals are killed for their fur. To kill animals without damaging their fur, trappers will strangle, beat, or stomp them to death. Animals on fur farms are gassed, poisoned, electrocuted, or have their necks snapped. Ranch-raised animals live in cages about 2 feet square, with up to four animals per cage. There is no federal law that regulates the killing of animals raised for fur. It can take up to 40 animals to make one fur coat.Dogs and cats are also killed in the fur trade. China in particular uses dog and cat fur and can legally be sold here in the United States without labeling if the value is under $150.Countless wild animals are killed senselessly in traps not even meant for them.
